STRATEGY OF INTERNATIONALIZATION   (2021 – 2027)

Visoka škola strukovnih studija za obrazovanje vaspitača i trenera (further in text – College of vocational education) from Subotica, Serbia  directs its strategy towards connecting with foreign Schools and Faculties for learning on examples of good practice, acquisition and improvement of professional competencies, improvement of teaching curricula, master’s programs and short cycles of education.

“College of Vocational Education has determined the strategic goals and the expected impact it strives for in order to modernize and improve the higher education system. In order to increase the number of graduates, attract a larger population to higher education, and reduce the number of dropouts, the school organizes various courses, workshops, trainings to acquire relevant knowledge, skills and competencies to prepare students for professional challenges. The “College of Vocational Education internationalization strategy emphasizes the continuous professional development of teaching staff and the improvement of the teaching process in order to keep pace with changes in the global market. International student mobility of students and staff, as well as mutual participation in research, development and other projects with partner organizations from abroad should become routine processes in the institution. Teachers, administrative staff and student organizations are involved in these activities.

In its vision, “College of Vocational Education strives to encourage an initiative that will improve the development of student education, ie. future professionals and to encourage the research process both among students and employees. Also, our vision is to improve the international status of the School, to be well connected with organizations engaged in education and research, as well as with relevant social institutions.

Our Strategy – The strategic plan of the university is based on vocational education, entrepreneurship, internationalization of staff, students and regional improvement and development.

“College of Vocational Education strives to increase the number of students in vocational higher education, to improve the quality and importance of vocational education, through innovation and research, to strengthen quality and competencies through mobility and cross-border cooperation, to connect higher education with business, entrepreneurship and regional development. management and financing.

Bearing in mind that we are a vocational school, we prepare students not only for theoretical knowledge but also for practical skills. The goal is to respond to the social and economic needs of society and the labor market, to stimulate students to be drivers and entrepreneurs, as well as to expand cooperation in Europe. By opening up to countries abroad, we believe we can learn new business models, improve teaching curricula and bring new alternative practices to our society. In addition to vocational education and mobility activities. “College of Vocational Education is oriented not only on teaching stuff and student’s mobility but also on project connected with adult education, sport and culture.

The basic foundation of the strategy of internationalization and modernization of “College of Vocational Education is the strengthening of mobility in countries (and abroad), the development of institutional and personal professional skills, the establishment of cooperation with experts in the field of pedagogy, sports, health and nutrition. We strive to develop and introduce attractive professional master’s programs joint and harmonized with the surrounding countries.

Regarding internationalization, the main goal is to expand the network of contacts and cooperation with other countries in Europe and the world – Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia, Slovakia…

Our partners. “College of Vocational Education has signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation with 4 countries, which was created after obtaining the Erasmus Charter in the previous project cycle.

We choose partners for together international projects very consciously and thoughtfully, always looking for a dimension from which we can learn and improve the current situation. We turn to countries that have reached certain levels in the areas that are our profession, and the institutions and organizations to whom we give priority are those who are certainly well-organized, professional and fostering entrepreneurial spirit.

Activities related to improving the quality of the teaching process – One of the main aims of the university reform driven by Bologna process is enhancing academic quality of studies. We are dedicated to breaking down the traditional views on how and what students should learn. Our school is slowly move away from rigid traditional lecture-based teaching to more student-centered concept. Our teachers strive to encourage active learning, with more diverse learning methods and techniques. Students have opportunity to learn from their group discussion, to present and compare their expectations and experiences and to get different kinds of feedback. Also, we believe that monitoring of students learning and progressing and providing appropriate feedback are crucial elements of successful learning and teching.

Activities related to the quality of the teaching staff – The teachers are become aware of the variation of ways in which learning and teaching can be conceived and carried out. Special attention is also paid of teachers improvement of professional and personal skills. We encourage teaching staff for their continuous improvement, lifelong learning and initiative.

 

Activities related to intensifying cooperation with the stake holders. We organize numerous activities and free education for our stake holders and citizens because we are socially responsible and, thus, contribute to the partners relationships and development of local and regional community.

Activities related to directing the school towards the market and economy. We are a forward-thinking institution committed to developing forward-thinking citizens and future leaders who will face down the challenges of our modern world. And we do all this in a multicultural, multilingual city of Subotica that provides students numerous opportunities to learn and grow in the classroom and out in their professional field. We know how important is to support every part of an entrepreneur’s process, from inspiring students at formal and nonformal talks and events, to helping create a compelling pitch and connecting them to network of mentors, investors and experts.

The extra curriculum within which we organize workshops, lectures, seminars and trainings in the field of pedagogy, psychology, sports, nutrition and medicine, aims to involve students in the process of gaining knowledge and skills for themselves, not for the sake of assessment, and to awaken curiosity, initiative and entrepreneurial spirit. The Center for Career Advice within the school conducts individual counseling of students regarding employment opportunities, increasing knowledge and professional experience, volunteering and professional networking in the local community.

“College of Vocational Education strives to improve curricula development including both structure and content, through development of flexible learning paths. One of the biggest concerns is strategic partnership and implementation of new knowledge alliances enlarging the current School, creating a platform for innovation and collaborative development. Quality of teaching and research development and innovation are of course of the utmost concern for “College of Vocational Education and this requires improvement of the curricular quality of our programs and international recognition of our studies. “College of Vocational Education sees cooperation as an economic activity that is performed within a social context in which the actors are embedded. Actually this is a first step to change to a more business like institution looking for new market and students in a ever more international environment.

The geographic location of the “College of Vocational Education could be seen as an advantage, in a border with European Union.

Our school actively strives to contribute to achieving the goals of the European field of education in terms of wider recognition of school diplomas, increasing the number of student and staff mobility, as well as improving professional and language competencies, more cross-border cooperation, and strengthening European identity and cultural heritage. To this end, we emphasize the planned activities within the international cooperation:

  • Strengthening the Office for International Cooperation with competent persons for certain professional and scientific fields, as well as periodic evaluation of the achieved results;
  • Participation in cross-border projects related to preschool education, sports and medicine;
  • Establishment of bilateral and multilateral agreements on cooperation between related universities and non-educational institutions;
  • Participation in student and staff mobility programs, encouraging the involvement of vulnerable groups, activating student organizations in providing support to incoming students;

In order to improve the regional position of the college, we strive to constantly improve study programs and curricula in various professional fields. In addition, we strive to establish cooperation with EU countries, thus establishing knowledge alliances, ensuring a wider exchange of staff, within the mobility established by the European Union. We strive to establish cooperation and global networking with educational and non-educational institutions outside the EU.
